Walk It Off dashboard: 5,370 of 7,200 steps, 2.7 miles walked today, goal weight expected in September 2027, daily calories 1,757 of 2,050 kcal.
How's that supposed to work?

A walk changes nothing.
Unless you take one every day.

One walk doesn't burn much. True enough. But the same walk, every day? That adds up — week after week, pound after pound.

And that's enough?

Yes — and you'll even see when.

Tell the app your goal weight, and it works out the month you'll get there. No going hungry, no sweating — just a habit that sticks.

Why the scale stops moving for so many

People who move more almost always eat more — without noticing. And people who only eat less fight hunger every single day. Hardly anyone keeps that up for long. Losing weight means your body has to burn more than you give it. Walking creates that gap along the way, without hunger.

So Walk It Off keeps an eye on both: we count your steps, and you simply show us what you eat — by photo or by voice. And the scale shows you that it's working.

Logging food

Snap a photo.
We count the calories.

Snap a photo, tell the app, or type it in.

The app recognizes what's on your plate, estimates the portion, and logs the calories for you. Packaged food? Scan the barcode.

Food scanner: a photographed plate of tagliatelle with mushrooms and cream sauce, recognized automatically and logged with 744 kcal.
Daily overview: 1,757 kcal eaten of about 2,050 kcal daily need, broken down by breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Nothing off-limits

Eat until you're full.

Your daily need isn't a limit — going hungry isn't the plan.

It shows you what your body needs. The small minus comes from walking, not from your plate.

Your progress

The scale shows
it's working.

No dieting, no sacrifice, no yo-yo.

Your steps and calories work for you every day. The scale shows you what comes of it — once a week is enough.

Progress: minus 9.5 lb since the start, weight curve over several weeks, milestones 100, 250 and 500 miles reached.

No gym. Walking is enough.

Three 20-minute walks, spread across the day. Your lunch break, the walk home, once around the block after dinner. It fits into any day — including yours.

This isn't a magic trick.

You'll become someone who gets around on foot — a little every day. That takes time. But it isn't the price of losing weight. It's the half hour that belongs to you.

Slow isn't a flaw. It's the plan.

Crash diets don't fail because they're too fast — they fail because your body won't go along. Walking is slow. But it lasts.

Your date moves with you.

It's not a promise and not a countdown. Walk more, and it moves closer. Take two weeks off, and it waits — it won't run away from you.

Frequently asked questions

Can you really lose weight by walking?

Yes — that's energy balance, not opinion: you lose weight when your body burns more energy than you give it. And walking is a bigger lever than most people think. If you sit all day, everyday movement is only 6–10% of what you burn. If you're active, it's half or more (von Loeffelholz & Birkenfeld 2022 — free to read). You walk the difference.

In numbers: a pound of body fat is roughly 3,500 calories. 4,000 extra steps a day burn about 160 calories — doesn't sound like much, but over a year it adds up to about 15 pounds. The lever isn't the single walk, it's the repetition. Just don't eat those calories right back — that's exactly what the app helps you with.

How much weight can I realistically lose?

There's no upper limit — whether you want to lose ten pounds or sixty, the principle is the same: every day leaves a small minus, and it adds up. The only thing that changes is the time. That's why we don't promise you a number. We work out your date instead — honestly, and it moves with you. No yo-yo, because you never have to push through anything that feels like sacrifice.

Do I have to count calories?

The app does the counting. Take a photo of your plate — it recognizes what's on it, estimates the portion, and logs the calories for you. Packaged food? Scan the barcode. No photo at hand? Just say or type what you ate. It also works out how much your body needs each day. That number isn't a limit, so go ahead and eat all of it. The weight comes off from walking.

Why log my food if I'm not supposed to eat less?

People who move more almost always eat more — without noticing. Walk more, and you wonder why the scale won't move. You're not supposed to eat less. Just to notice when your eating quietly creeps up.

How many steps a day do I need to walk?

You set that together with the app: it looks at your current steps, and your starting goal sits just a little above your everyday — very doable. Each extra walk is 20 minutes, about 2,000 steps. We'll check in once your start has held for a week. No pressure, your pace.
